- Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will reach its release date on June 18, 2027
- This is what two of its producers say, who are “very confident” that the project will not be delayed further.
- Its first footage could also be released sooner than some of us think
It seems that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (SM:BTS) will no longer be delayed following multiple release date delays.
That’s the verdict from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who told me exclusively that they’re “very confident” that one of next year’s most anticipated new films will stick to its current release date. This response came as part of our conversation regarding Hail Mary Projectthe first film directed by Lord and Miller since 2014 22 Jump Street.
Initially scheduled for March 29, 2024, the sequel to Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse (SM:ATS) was initially removed from Sony’s release schedule just a few weeks after Through the Spider-Verse debuted in theaters in June 2023. SAG-AFTRA strikes, coupled with high-profile production issues, were cited as major factors in this withdrawal.

Fortunately, back in March, Sony reassured fans that the final entry in its much-loved and award-winning Spider-Man animated film trilogy was still in development. Additionally, it set a new launch date of June 4, 2027 for Beyond the Spider-Versewhich should conclude the stories of co-leads Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen.

Just four months later, a revised release date of June 25, 2027 was announced, sparking further fears that SM:BTS suffered from more internal conflicts.
However, in September 2025, Sony reported that development was not only going well, but also a little ahead of schedule. Indeed, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versethe latest release date of — June 18, 2027 — this is the first time its launch has been brought forward.
Given Lord and Miller’s full belief that SM:BTS will be released next June, attention turns, as one might expect, to the unveiling of its first images.
So far, we’ve only been treated to a handful of official images released last April (see the X/Twitter post above). And, considering SM:ATS“The first teaser premiered at Brazil Comic-Con (CCXP) 2021 in December of the same year, it would make sense for Sony to drop Beyond the Spider-VerseThis is the inaugural teaser for this year’s CCXP, especially since it will still be six months before launch when CCXP 2026 takes place.
Is this the most likely scenario? I had to ask. Unfortunately, Lord and Miller didn’t provide a definitive answer, but their response gave me hope that we might see something soon – and maybe even before next December.
“We can’t really tell you, but stay tuned,” Miller said, before Lord followed up with “Soon. You’ll see something soon… pretty much.”
Does this mean we could see something at San Diego Comic-Con in late July? Or even earlier at Mexico Comic-Con next month (i.e. April)? I suspect we’ll find out in the coming weeks and months.
