- Latest update for Windows 11 24H2 wraps some NIFTY fixes for players
- One of them is the crucial remedy for certain PC games completely blocking
- The other correction is more tenuous, but a patched memory leak can also be linked to problems with certain games
Windows 11 24H2 has just received a vital solution for players in its latest optional fix, and NVIDIA GPUs should now be more stable with the operating system, because it solves problems with certain PC games crash.
It is KB5058499 which is an update (optional) and brings a ton of new features, as I discussed yesterday.
More importantly than all this for players, however, are some hidden fixes at the bottom of the output notes that I neglected and that Windows had the most informed to spot.
The most important remedy here is a correction for the graphic nucleus of Windows 11 24H2, which Microsoft observes: “Correction: a problem where certain game titles become insensitive after upgrading around 24h2”.
The bug in question causes the locking of certain games when launched, an unpleasant glitch indeed for affected titles.
As for the other remedy linked to the game, it is more tenuous, but it involves a memory leakage bug in the “ input service ” which, according to Microsoft, affects the use of remote desktop and other situations likely to be encountered by the average user of Windows 11.
However, Windows has the last maintains that this memory leak could be the cause of the input lag with the keyboard and the mouse in certain PC games – or at least that this bug could be part.
This problem with the input lag can also cause accidents of the blue screen with “memory management” errors, we are told, but it is essentially assumptions that the fixed correction with this optional fix for Windows 11 is part of the remedy here. This could be the case, however, and if this is the case, it is a practical double blow of useful corrective for players.
Analysis: Nvidia is not to be blamed (this time)
What is interesting here is that the blame for the bug that makes the games lock with Windows 11 24h2 were placed at the door of Nvidia by many. As the last points out, even when Nvidia published a new graphic pilot that healed the `Stability problems ” with Windows 11 24:2 – in April – problems with games that do not respond, and Team Green caught the Flak so as not to solve the situation.
It therefore turns out that it was a problem in the Windows 11 kernel (the central code for the operating system) with which Microsoft needed to tinker, so that those who sold their anger directly to Nvidia were not just for the GPU manufacturer. Although that said, it is understandable that people have jumped into the conclusions, because Team Green has undoubtedly had huge problems with his graphic pilots since the release of the latest generation of Blackwell – and the thorny problems that afflict these GPUs continue.
In any case, we hope that it will be the end of the question, at least with regard to accidents linked to 24h2 (the fingers and the toes are very closely crossed). If you have suffered in the hands of these bugs, the only way to discover it is to install the optional update.
Of course, the preview updates can themselves be unknown, and potentially still buggy, which is why they are optional. Thus, you can wait until this preview update becomes the complete cumulative update of June, which will be published on June 10. Or, if one of your favorite games is bugged, so it doesn’t work at all, you will probably want to risk it and enter the preview for May for the moment.
