It’s finally here – hours after Netflix accidentally leaked it ahead of schedule, the final trailer for Stranger Things season 5 has arrived online.
If you’re like us, you’ve probably watched it several times to examine the images within. We also imagine that you’ve been trying to figure out what song it’s about and what band is responsible for creating this track.
Look on it
Well, fear not, dear reader, because we are bringing goodies regarding the musical number used in the latest teaser of Stranger Things season 5. So, read on to find out who it is, the title of the song and where you can listen to it again and again.
What song plays in the latest Stranger Things 5 trailer? And who sings it?
It will be “Who Wants to Live Forever”, written and performed by the legendary British rock band Queen.
The sixth track from Queen’s 1986 number one album, “It’s a Kind of Magic”, the power ballad was also released that year – September 15, 1986, to be exact – and peaked at number 24 in the official UK music charts following the single’s release.
In the years since, “Who Wants to Live Forever” has been featured on numerous lists of Queen “best of” songs, with Rolling Stone readers ranking it as the fifth best Queen song of all time in 2014, and Smooth Radio listeners voting it the 15th best Queen song in 2018.
Where can I listen to “Who Wants to Live Forever” by Queen?
On all the best music streaming services, of course. This includes Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and YouTube.
It is unknown if the song is used in Stranger Things 5The new trailer will boost its popularity among fans of the hugely popular Netflix TV Original. Even if music services see an increase in the number of people listening to “Who Wants to Live Forever,” I imagine this song won’t be as successful as the song used in the various teasers for its predecessor.
Indeed, when the trailers for the fourth season of one of Netflix’s best shows came out in 2022, they were focused on Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God).” Upstream of Stranger Things 4Upon the launch of , this track slowly gained momentum on various music platforms as fans of the supernatural sci-fi horror series streamed it over and over again. Once the final season launched in mid-2022, its popularity exploded and led “Running Up That Hill” to become one of the most streamed songs of the year.
If it’s going to eclipse the success of that musical number, “Who Wants to Live Forever” will have to be streamed more than a billion times — a number that “Running Up That Hill” reached just weeks later. Stranger Things season 4 has premiered – by December 31, 2025. A tall order indeed, but if anyone can do it, it’s Queen, aka one of the most beloved British bands of all time, can.
Before Stranger ThingsThe final season will air on November 26 and 27. Get complete information about its release schedule, trailers, cast and plot by reading my dedicated guide to Stranger Things season 5.
