Strong precipitation and thunderstorms expected today

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has planned strong precipitation for Karachi today while the monsoon system continues to influence the region.

According to the latest data, areas such as Gulshan-E-Hadeed recorded the highest precipitation yesterday at 17 millimeters, other areas also receiving substantial precipitation.

More specifically, 12 millimeters of rain were recorded on Shahrah-e-Faisal, nine millimeters in the areas of old cities, 7.8 millimeters in the defense phase II, five millimeters at the airport and two millimeters on University Road.

The PMD indicated that the system above the region, which includes the Indian Gujarat region and the North Arabian Sea, has strengthened and is now a low pressure system.

This system should provide intermittent precipitation in several sindh areas, especially in the lower and coastal regions, over the next two to three days.

Despite yesterday’s precipitation, the weather remains wet, with temperatures in the city between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Forecasts predict moderate to high precipitation from the afternoon to the end of this evening, some areas potentially experience thunderstorms accompanied by strong showers.

The fate of the monsoon should continue through Karachi and Sindh until July 1, with more rain showers expected in the coming days.
