Strong rains cause a fatal accident in Malakand, five lost lives

A car accident in Malakand resulted in the death of five family members after their vehicle left the road and plunged into a channel.

The incident occurred in Duragai Tehsil, near the Afghan refugee camp in Khatkoshah, in the midst of strong precipitation.

Emergency speakers, including Malakand Levies and local rescue teams, quickly arrived on the scene to recover the victims of the water.

The deceased includes two women, two young girls and their driver. Their bodies have since been transported to a local hospital for the identification and the necessary procedures.

Muhammad Asim Khan, spokesperson for Rescue 1122, said the accident occurred because the vehicle has lost control due to slippery road conditions created by heavy rain.

Local police confirmed that an investigation had been launched in the circumstances surrounding the accident, which shocked the community.

Eyewitness reported that strong precipitation contributed to the vehicle losing control before falling into the channel.

Earlier, heavy rains and thunderstorms swept Peshawar and its surroundings early Wednesday, flooding the streets and disturbing daily life.

The allocation, which started around 6:30 am, lasted an hour, leaving roads immersed in the water.

The dark clouds continue to dominate the roofs of the city, with light drizzle and strong winds also on Tuesday. The wet conditions extend beyond Peshawar, with Dir and Chitral undergoing rains in the last two days.

In Chitral, the snowfall resumed at night, adding a fresh white layer to the mountainous landscape.
