Karachi:
Strong rains and persistent showers in Karachi seriously disrupted the city’s flight operations, ending them on Tuesday with generalized cancellations and delays due to stormy weather conditions.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) canceled PK-310/311 flights on the Karachi-Conqueta and PK-308/309 road on Karachi-Islamabad due to unfavorable time. The flight of Lahore-Karachi PK-305 has been delayed at Lahore airport and will take off once the conditions are improving.
Delays have been reported for Karachi-Najaf PK-109/110 flights, with the Karachi departures postponed at 10:30 p.m., and PK-370 in Islamabad, which should leave at 9:30 p.m., both delayed due to the non-consideration of passengers.
International PK-731 flights to Jeddah and PK-843 in Medina also had to delays. In addition, Karachi-Islamabad flights early in the morning PK-300/301 were canceled.
Overall, eight flights were canceled and 20 other people delayed in the middle of a continuous downpour in Karachi. The flights arriving from Skardu and Dubai could not land, the PK-456 was diverted to Sukkur airport and Dubai F-335 flight redirect to Multan.
Several flights from Karachi-Islamabad have experienced delays, while flights from Jeddah, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Colombo also faced disruption of the calendar.
Two domestic PIA flights between Karachi and Quetta, Karachi and Islamabad, and two Sukkur flights were canceled. Private carriers also suspended two Karachi-Dubai flights.
Private airline operations have also been disrupted. A calm airline flight also attempted two landings in Karachi in the midst of bad weather, but was forced to surrender and return to Islamabad. Passengers were invited to closely monitor the flights while the city is fighting against bad weather affecting trips by plane.
