Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the provincial government has decided to extend its laptop program to students of private educational institutions, with 10,000 laptops distributed under the initiative.
Declaring 2025 as the year of initiatives to improve education, the governor, speaking about the performance of the Department of Education in 2025, said that like last year, 2025 also remains the year of initiatives to improve education.
Hayat said two million phantom registrations had been eliminated in educational institutions and the shortage of teachers had been brought under control through the rationalization of 26,000 teachers.
He added that curriculum reforms had been carried out, examination reforms had been introduced and school boards had moved to electronic grading.
He said the Punjab government has also focused on early childhood education, by establishing Early Childhood Education (ECE) rooms in 10,000 schools, and 1.1 million students and students are benefiting from the nutrition program daily.
According to the minister, 268 schools have been upgraded across the province and decisions have been made in 37 cases of teacher harassment.
He said the process of appointment of principals on merit in 450 colleges and vice-chancellors in 29 universities has been completed.
