Suni Lee was so close not to participate in the Paris Olympic Games last year.
In April 2023, Lee announced that she was going end his Auburn career Due to a renal problem, and the doctors of Auburn would not erase it.
Lee won 45 pounds, her eyes were “swollen”, and she “couldn’t make a flip”.
“My fingers were so swollen, they would not integrate in my handles, and I could not keep the bar,” she said in November 2023.

In a recent interview with PK Press Club Digital, Lee “left” gymnastics “a few times”.
“I told my coach that I didn’t want to do that anymore … There were many times when I didn’t want to do that anymore, or I myself doubted myself in the process. I think that even as close as Olympic tests, I doubted myself,” said Lee.
However, after crossing an incredible version, Lee was in Paris and won three medals – the whole team won gold, and Lee herself went in bronze in versatile and unequal bars.
More recently, she was nominated and won the best athlete back to the 2025 ESPYs on Wednesday evening.
“It’s amazing, and it’s such a surreal feeling just because I know how difficult the trip was, so being here is quite incredible in itself, and I’m really excited for tonight and being with the other nominees,” said Lee.
By attending the awards ceremony, she joined forces with Raising Cane’s, who helped her prepare for the occasion.

“Oh my God, they were so incredible, and they also brought me in many incredible places, and having this relationship is so fun. I have the impression that each time we are with them, we all have a good time, and they are really such great people, so it’s a great relationship.”
Lee admitted that she had only started to feel 100% normal after the Olympic Games.
“We were always trying to understand everything, to get into routine, to learn how my body was able to adapt to the drug changes and travel, it was simply going at the same time. In addition, being stressed and overwhelmed has certainly not helped you. But yes, I would say that things have definitely calmed after, every month, but I am in a way to live my life a little more normal.”
