ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that if police officers or law enforcement officials are injured or killed while discharging their official duties during a private quarrel, such act would be considered terrorism under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) 1997.

According to the officially approved written judgment of the court, a three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim delivered the verdict in the case of Riaz Hussain v.

The accused, Riaz Hussain, was charged with the murder of Abdul Wahab Chandio in 2016 while he was in police custody.
