A man accused of murdered Aisha Habiba, 22, on his wedding day was arrested in the Sundar de Lahore region, police said on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Ikram, was the victim’s brother-in-law and killed him on a dispute concerning marriage agreements, according to the DIG investigation, Syed Zeeshan Raza, Express News reported.
The incident occurred earlier this week and sent shock waves to the local community.
Dig Raza had taken note of the murder and ordered the training of a special police team under the SP Sadar Moazam Ali investigation.
Inspector Pasha Imran, leader of the Soundar police station, conducted the arrest operation with his team.
The suspect had fled the scene after the shooting, but was found using modern surveillance technologies and human intelligence.
“Solid evidence has been collected and a high charges will be subject to ensure that the suspect receives the appropriate sentence,” said Dig Raza in a statement.
He reaffirmed that counterfeits would be treated firmly and welcomed the rapid and coordinated efforts of the investigation team.
The SSP survey, Muhammad Naveed, announced congratulations certificates for the officers involved.
