SWABI:
The Swabi district administration has issued notices to Afghan refugees residing in two main refugee camps, Barakai Afghan Refugee Camp, Gohati and Gandaf Refugee Camp, ordering them to vacate the camps and return to their home countries.
In line with government directives, a deadline of December 30 has been set for the evacuation of all refugee camps. Official notifications have been served in this regard and the Swabi district administration has also issued a notification ordering complete closure of the camps on the stipulated date.
According to the notification, authorities decided to demolish Barakai (Gohati) Afghan refugee camp and Gandaf refugee camp in an operation on December 31.
The notices issued to Afghan refugees through concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) said that camp residents are being informed for the last time to make practical arrangements to move their personal belongings and businesses as per the administration’s guidelines. The notices emphasize that timely compliance will avoid forced action by the government and ensure dignified and orderly repatriation of Afghan refugees.
