If you want to up the ante by using AI to turn that audio into summaries and to-do lists, there’s a cloud-based subscription service that will help you do that. With this service, you can also ask the AI to help you find a chat you need to brush up on the details.
The AI MindClip is multilingual, supports over 100 languages and weighs only 18g. SwitchBot assures me that there is end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy.
Although I clearly see its potential usefulness, it all seems a bit invasive and scary. The name and the fact that SwitchBot refers to it as a “second brain” doesn’t help, nor does the fact that it’s a “second brain” help. Black mirror episode brought to life.
In a work environment, with the MindClip clearly positioned on someone’s collar, there’s an argument that this sort of thing is perfectly appropriate. It’s not that different from recording a video call.
But there’s nothing stopping you from using it for all your private conversations as well, which is where we get into slightly murkier waters. Most people seem to immediately jump at its potential to fact-check exactly who said what, to settle disputes (the immediate response from the two journalists I was introduced to around the CES booth was, “Woah, my wife is going to hate that.”) Plus, it can very easily be covered up.
If you can overcome fear and want something to help a wandering brain during work meetings, this still seems like a cool innovation.
