- Marwat accused of having spread false claims in television shows.
- The legal opinion cites the violation of the defamation order.
- A 14 -day ultimatum for apology or legal action will follow.
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) and former Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra, issued a defamation notice to the former member of the Sher Afzal Marwat party, demanding 1 billion rupees in damages for false accusations.
The opinion, sent through Jhagra’s legal representatives, follows marwat television complaints concerning financial fault.
According to legal advice, Marwat falsely allegedly allegedly allegedly during two television talk shows on March 11, 2025, that Jhagra had diverted 36 billion rupees from the pension fund. The opinion stresses that Marwat also accused Jhagra of having bought valuable properties in Hayatabad and Islamabad using illicit funds.
Jhagra’s legal adviser, lawyer Ali Gohar Durrani, said these allegations were baseless, malicious and defamatory, aimed only at harm the social and professional reputation of Jhagra. The opinion categorically denies the accusations, declaring that they lack factual basis and violate the defamation order of Pakistan, 2002.
The opinion requires that Marwat ceases and refrains from making other defamatory remarks, presenting public apology through television channels and social media platforms where defamatory declarations have circulated, retracting its declarations and publicly clarifying the disinformation and paying 1 billion rupees in remuneration for damage to reputation and professional.
Failure to comply with these requests within 14 days will result in civil and criminal procedure, warns the opinion.
Responding to legal action, Jhagra went to social networks, saying: “See you soon in court, Marwat. No flight now.” Meanwhile, his legal representative, Durrani, confirmed on X that the defamation notice had been officially signified. Marwat has not yet responded publicly to the opinion.

Development follows growing tensions within PTI concerning Marwat’s controversial declarations and actions.
Last month, the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, currently incarcerated, ordered the immediate expulsion of the party’s marwat for repeated violations of the party’s discipline.
The decision was made after Marwat made controversial remarks during a swabi rally against the alleged election rigging, where he said that “bad people” like him had been useful during the difficult times, while the “good people” remained silent.
Khan expressed his indignation concerning marwat declarations and ordered the party’s leadership to issue an official dismissal of its members.
Marwat has often been in contradiction with PTI leadership and openly criticized party decisions. He responded to his expulsion by arguing that his unwavering support at PTI in difficult times had been ignored and that his position was never properly heard before his withdrawal.
In addition, Marwat recently aroused additional controversy by accusing influencers abroad of prioritizing personal financial gains on the interests of the party.
He said that many international PTI supporters were more focused on the guarantee of lucrative donations and engines rather than strengthening the party’s political movement.
