The Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, warned against legal proceedings against the protest campaigns and which depict social media against the visit of the chief of staff of the army (COAS) in the kingdom -United.
Addressing Express News on Thursday, Tarar said that the army chief had received a warm welcome in the United Kingdom, which improved the international position of Pakistan. “The world recognizes the professional capacities of the armed forces of Pakistan,” he said.
He accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) of being unable to accept the respect granted to the head of the army abroad. “A handful of disbelievers launched a campaign on social networks and organized demonstrations, but the Patriotic Pakistanis rejected their actions,” he added.
The Minister promised an action against the people involved in the campaign. “Whoever harms the integrity and interests of Pakistan will face legal consequences,” he warned.
Tarar said that the Pakistan economy was improving, with a 32% increase in funding. He criticized PTI, saying: “While the Pakistanis abroad contributes positively, a group of instigators leaves no opportunity to harm the reputation of the country.”
He accused PTI of encouraging violence, declaring: “They attacked Jinnah’s house and commemorative monuments of profane martyrs. They have no respect for the safety of Pakistan.”
The minister also allegedly alleged that PTI had followed a “foreign program”, facilitated by activists and had history of terrorism support. He cited PTI’s actions on May 9, saying: “There is evidence of what PTI did that day. Their founder even wrote to the IMF, proving their hostility to Pakistan.”
He rejected PTI’s political relevance, saying: “Their policy is in decline. They have no agenda, which is why they protest against IMF transactions one day and that the army chief Visit the next one.
