- Tata Technologies informed the Indian Stock Exchange of an attack
- He says it was a ransomware attack, but did not share more details
- The survey is still underway, but operations are operational
Tata Technologies revealed that she had undergone a ransomware attack which paralyzed parties of her computer operation.
In a notification sent to the India National Stock Exchange, the company said that it had “realized” a ransomware incident which affected some of its computer assets.
“As a precautionary measure, some of the IT services have been temporarily suspended and have now been restored,” said the company in the letter. “Our customer delivery services remained fully functional and not affected throughout.”
Targeting
Other than that, the letter does not say much. Consequently, we do not know who the attackers were, how they managed to enter the infrastructure of Tata Technologies, or the quantity of network of the company that the attack affected. The letter suggests that the company does not yet know and that it examines:
“A more detailed survey is underway in consultation with experts to assess the deep cause and take corrective measures if necessary,” said Tata.
We also do not know if the crooks have taken a sensitive company or customer data (as usual in ransomware attacks), or the duration of their habit before deploying the encryptor figure.
Tata Technologies is part of the Tata group of the massive Indian conglomerate, with more than 100 companies in a wide range of industries. As such, it is a major target for all kinds of cybercriminals, and about two years ago, the hive ransomware hit Tata Power, the largest integrated electricity company in India. At the time, society did not describe it as a ransomware attack, although it was forced to restore its systems.
“The detailed attack in the future recorded report has been one of the numerous attempts to intrusion on Indian critical infrastructure since 2020, the latest attack on computer assets confirmed in October 2022,” said Microsoft at the time.
It was said that Tata Power did not pay for ransom.
