Taylor Swift has come under fire after recording an inspirational message for athletes ahead of the Winter Olympics.
As the 2026 Milano Cortina kicked off on Friday, February 6 in Italy, a motivational video featuring the successful Eras Tour superstar emerged on social media.
“Hi, it’s Taylor,” the Opalite The singer opened the 45-second clip with a simple introduction. “I just wanted to send a message to all the athletes competing in the Olympics.”
“I just wanted to thank you,” she expressed her gratitude. “Learning your stories and seeing everything you sacrificed, all your determination, your hard work, your passion and everything that got you to this point where you are so great at something.”
“It’s truly inspiring and I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done to get to this point in your life and grateful that you’ve been with us on this journey so we can watch you do this,” the Cruel summer the chart topping continued. “And I just hope you have a wonderful Olympics.”
“I wish you good luck and enjoy your journey and I hope this is an experience that you cherish for the rest of your life,” the 14-time Grammy winner added before saying “Goodbye.”
While Swifties praised Taylor, 36, for her thoughtful gesture and sweet words, several netizens criticized her for expressing support for the sport while remaining silent on political unrest and other major global issues.
Others, meanwhile, criticized her for making the international multi-sport event all about herself.
One social media user wrote: “She will speak in favor of sport but not in favor of peace in the country where she resides. »
