Islamabad:
The educational community of the federal capital welcomed the Senate Committee of the permanent finance and income committee of the 2025 bill by income tax income (second amendment), which aims to restore critical tax relief for employees, in particular teachers and researchers.
The Senate committee, chaired by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, approved the bill, particularly focusing on the inversion of recent tax charges that had led to significant wage deductions for teachers.
This development follows the previous decision of the federal office, dated March 26, 2025, to restore the tax discount of 25% for full -time teachers and researchers.
The discount had been suddenly interrupted four months earlier, arousing many criticism from the education sector. Reacting to the approval of the Committee, Fazal-E-Maula, president of the teachers of the joint education action committee, praised this decision as a “positive step”, but noted that more complete measures were necessary. “Although the restoration of the 25% tax delivery is appreciated, it is only a small relief. The government must go further and introduce an education allowance,” he said. He also pleaded for the alignment of teachers’ salaries with those of other government employees in equivalent notes.
Professor Danish Yaseen, spouse of the Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA), echoed similar feelings. “After the restoration of the 25%presentation, teachers are now where they were before. But the government should consider other incentives, as made in other countries. Teachers should not be overwhelmed with financial concerns, only then they can promote a peaceful and focused class environment.”
