- PTA activates the emergency telecommunications center during flood threats.
- Operators must submit reports every six hours.
- Temporary mobile units to support areas struck by floods.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an opinion to telecommunications companies because certain parts of the country are in shock of sudden floods and the landslide in the middle of the current monsoon.
To this end, according to the opinion, the PTA has created a National Coordination Coordination Center (NetCC).
All telecommunications companies have been invited to activate emergency plans for emergency situations, according to the Council.
The PTA has ordered that the uninterrupted supply of mobile services and the Internet will be ensured in the areas affected by floods. He also asked operators to secure telecommunications infrastructure in sensitive areas.
In the event of a major technical disruption, an immediate notification must be given to the registered office of the PTA, notes the consulting notes.
Operators are also required to submit service restoration reports every six hours, in accordance with PTA directives.
Mobile operators were invited to provide awareness and evacuation plans linked to the public floods. Emergency contact numbers and flood information must be made available in national and regional languages, has led PTA.
The opinion also indicates that support for priority communication should be provided to rescue staff in emergency situations.
If necessary, temporary mobile units should be deployed in areas affected by floods, he adds.
Local loop operators must activate their deductibles in the regions affected by floods to respond to customer complaints, said PTA.
The teams must be deployed at charging points to manage user complaints, added the opinion.
The PTA also asked that the continuous supply of basic services, including SIMs, balance recharging and others, should be ensured.
Finally, trained staff should be deployed at local and regional levels for field operations, concluded the opinion.
