Police launched operation after reports of terrorists in Kalachi coming under fire as suspects opened fire first
One terrorist was killed and two others injured as police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out an intelligence operation in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Sunday.
According to sources, the operation was launched following reports of the presence of terrorists in and around Kalachi. The police came under fire when the suspects opened fire after spotting the group of police officers, triggering a violent exchange.
As a result of the shooting, one terrorist was killed and two others were injured. A police officer was also slightly injured during the clash, sources added.

Sources said the slain terrorist was involved in several attacks on police and targeted killings, including an incident at Khatti checkpost. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including hand grenades, as well as a motorcycle, were recovered from the possession of the militant.
Police and CTD officials said the operation was carried out promptly based on intelligence provided by security agencies and termed it a successful action. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway to find the injured suspects.
Separately, terrorists carried out a coordinated attack on the construction camp of a private company working on the circular road project in the Doh Manzi area of Bannu.
Police said the attackers set fire to valuable property and heavy machinery in the camp, completely destroying a crane, dumpers, excavators, a water tanker, generators, rollers, loaders, a solar power plant, a tractor, diesel drums, curing compound drums and a welding plant.
Police described the attack as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the development project and sow fear in the area.
