- Windows 10 End of life is approaching October 14, 2025
- However, many companies still have trouble with technical debt on older systems
- Companies should upgrade now or face potential problems, warn experts
Almost all businesses may need to make major technical changes as the end of the end of life is approaching, the experts warned.
Cloudhouse searches say that 90% of companies are carrying out a form of technical debt of Microsoft Windows, caused by the delay in their upgrades to more recent and more efficient technology.
Microsoft should officially end Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, after which the elderly software continuation will no longer receive official updates or security fixes, potentially putting users at risk of attack.
Windows 10 end -of -life problems
These concerns are reflected in the survey, where 72% of respondents said they thought that obsolete window systems increased their risk of cyber attacks.
More than half (51%) have undergone arrest times of the system linked directly to technical debt, and approximately the same amount (48%) have already faced compliance problems during audits, and 41%of organizations reporting regulatory compliance have become more difficult to maintain due to dependence on inherited window systems.
Many companies say they are already faced with increased costs due to their delay in solving these problems, almost half (45%) saying that budgets are diverted from areas such as R&D in order to maintain inherited systems.
Despite these concerns, only 14% of organizations have proven to invest proactively in the repair or upgrading of their inheritance, while almost half admit that they only treat them when something breaks.
“Technical debt is not only a technological problem, it is a commercial risk, a security gap and a human cost,” noted Mat Clothier, CEO of Cloudhouse.
“The fact that 90% of organizations are still carrying a Windows technical debt, so close to the end of Windows 10 life, should be alarm. Awareness is high, but the action is far behind. Unless the organizations treat it now, costs – in time of stopping, conformity failures, lost innovation and a well -being of employees – will only increase.”
