The federal cabinet approved on Tuesday the promotion of the chief of staff of the army (COAS), General Syed Asim Mnnir in the rank of Marshal in the field.
The Marshal Asim Munnir expressed a deep gratitude to Allah Almighty to the granting of the grade of Marshal of Champ, dedicating honor to the whole nation, to the armed forces of Pakistan, and in particular to martyrs and veterans – both civil and military.
“It is not a personal achievement, but a tribute to the armed forces and the inhabitants of Pakistan,” said Marshal.
He thanked the President, the Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet for their confidence, stressing that honor is a national trust that requires the highest sacrifice.
“Millions of Asim are ready to exercise their lives to maintain it,” he added.
