The Avalanche Foundation appointed Chris Holmes, a conservative member of the Lord Chamber and defender of longtime technological policy, to its board of directors, the company announced on Tuesday.
Holmes, who was active in the development of legislation around emerging technologies, provides experience in governance, regulations and innovation, said the company. His appointment underlines the pressure of the foundation to deepen the commitment with political decision -makers as the adoption of the blockchain develops on a global scale.
“We are honored to welcome Lord Holmes to the board of directors of the Avalanche Foundation,” said Nicolas Lemaitre, director of the Foundation, in the press release. “While the adoption of blockchain accelerates on the global scale, its advice will be invaluable to ensure that the avalanche continues to set the standard for openness, accessibility and confidence in the digital economy.”
Holmes played a key role in updating the United Kingdom’s legal framework for digital technologies. He helped stimulate the adoption of the invoice for electronic commercial documents, giving digital trade documents compatible with blockchain the same legal status as paper. He also presented legislation on artificial intelligence regulations and fair work practices and co-written reports on democracy, digital skills and AI.
“Inclusion is fundamental for innovation,” said Holmes, a former paralympian, in the press release. “Without various voices and perspectives, the potential of blockchain and related technologies cannot be fully carried out. The regulation of the right size is not an obstacle to innovation – it is essential for this. ”
The Foundation said that the addition of Holmes to the Board of Directors is strengthening its mission to build a more accessible and trustworthy digital economy. Its expertise will help the organization to advance constructive regulatory dialogue worldwide and to expand the adoption of tools based on blockchain.
