Karachi:
The traffic police, in collaboration with the Hog Bikers Club, organized a gathering to promote awareness of road safety among motorcyclists. The rally, led by Dig Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, aimed to emphasize responsible driving practices and the importance of compliance with traffic rules.
The rally began in Nishan-E-Haider to Sea View and crossed the main monuments of the city, notably Teen Talwar, Do Talwar, Metropole, Sharae Faisal, Drigh Road, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road and my Jinnah Road, before concluding in Mazar-E-Quaid, where the participants offered Fateha. Heavy cyclists and traffic police participated in the rally.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the DIG traffic police spoke of increasing concerns linked to motorcycle safety, noting that motorcycles represent more than 56% of city traffic, and a significant part of the death accidents involve motorcyclists.
“It is not always the fault of the motorcyclist in an accident, but precautionary measures can considerably reduce risks,” he said. He urged cyclists to wear helmets, guarantee functional headlights, backlighting, mirrors, chain covers and anti-police, and avoid speed and one-way violations to improve road safety.
The excavation has also highlighted the serious gaps in infrastructure, revealing that only 57 traffic lights are currently operational in the city, while 2,000 to 2,500 are necessary to effectively regulate traffic.
