- The founder of Pebble Smartwatches reacted in the name of pebbles
- The upcoming watches of his company main devices will be renowned
- The first new Pebble watch should now be launched in August
If you miss the old days of pebble watches, you are lucky, because the SmartWatch brand which started everything made an unexpected return. This means that it may not take long before you can slap a pebble watch on your wrist as if it was 2015 again.
Pebble was initially founded by Eric Migicovsky, who now directs the Core devices, which succeeded Pebble when he closed in 2016. Although Migicovsky previously revealed that he was working on two new watches that were based on the operational system of Pebbleos Open Source, they had to be manufactured under the name of the brand of basic devices. Now everything has changed.
Writing on his blog, Migicovsky explained that he had been able to react the brand of pebbles, which will now be incorporated into future products. And it seems that the company does not waste time, because its smartwatches of Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 were both renowned respectively in Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2.
However, the two are not yet ready to be launched, the first to be sent to beta users and the latter undergoing engineering verification tests (EVT). But for anyone excited by the Pebble brand, the name change alone will be enough to make the heart beat.
Shipping in August
Do you want to get your hands on one of these renamed watches? You can pre-order both from the Core Devices Reppebble website. The devices always use the ancient “nucleus” names, and probably it will be updated shortly. The Pebble 2 duo is available for $ 149, while Core Time 2 can be ordered for $ 225.
In his blog article, Migicovsky wrote that his company hoped to start sending the PEBBLE 2 duo by the end of August (a delay in their original July estimate). Maintaining is due to the test of an improved sealing note, while a speaker has also been added which must also be waterproof.
There is an additional grip with the command: Prices. Migicovsky says you will be billed about $ 10 per Duo Pebble 2 if you order in the United States. Non -American orders will not be affected by prices because the devices are shipped from Hong Kong.
Migicovsky also tested the Bluetooth range of the Pebble 2 Duo (in a “super non-scientific” way, he concedes), and says that it reaches about 140 meters in an outdoor environment. In a street with buildings, the range is slightly longer.
The blog article also mentioned a handful of updates from the Pebble Time 2. Among them, Migicovsky said that design had been made “a little more elegant”, although it did not share any detail. Since the watch is at the EVT stage of manufacturing, it is a little too early to start thinking about the shipping dates.
However, the names of pebbles making a return almost a decade after ceasing to be sold, fans of the smartwatch will undoubtedly be excited for news. We will keep an eye on more while waiting.
