- The Secretary of Technology provides more investment in the United Kingdom with technology giants
- Peter Kyle is the potential of British companies
- Kyle strikes those who criticize her meeting with technological companies – because it is his work
The British government’s technology secretary has called on the world’s technology giants to continue to bring their latest innovations and more investment in the country.
Speaking during the Google Cloud Summit London event, Peter Kyle said: “My message to large technological companies is clear: bring us your best ideas, your best technology at your best price, and you will have access to the biggest customer in the country.”
“In return, you will have access to the largest customer in the country, who will be more and more intelligent and more and more digital.”
Goodbye “Ball and Chain” Tech
Kyle also struck those who criticized his meetings with technological companies, noting: “It’s my job”.
He mentioned a Guardian report who said he had 28 meetings with people in or near the technological sector in his six months in the role, especially large companies such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Meta – 70% more than its predecessor.
“Yes, I met technological companies,” he said. “This is how you offer value for the public. This is how you unlock innovation ”.
Kyle spoke while the British government has announced a new partnership with Google Cloud which aims to help move the first from dependence on “Ball and Chain” technology.
It noted more than one technological system on the public sector out of four, operating on inherited technology – a figure that jumps up to 70% in certain police forces and NHS trustees, sometimes on the contracts signed decades ago.
Overall, the partnership was able to see Google investing hundreds of millions of books in British technology in the public sector, noted Kyle: “Helping to provide my ambition to bring public services that people use every day, dragged in the 21st century”.
This decision would also help reduce the taxpayer’s burden, which must often pay the bill for the 21 billion sterling books estimated at the purchase of the same technology repeatedly due to exceeded and locked up.
Kyle has referred to several other important recent announcements, including the recently published Gov.uk application, as well as the National Digital Marketplace, a new supply platform for the public sector.
“Great Britain will use technology in more fields and more than ever,” he said, “we know that the tools using the same technology are able to transform Whitehall himself, the NHS and other essential services on which millions of people across our country count (and) with more practical support, I can’t wait to see what our two teams deliver together.”
