- IA job losses are inevitable, but new innovations will limit the effects, says Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia
- Huang was warned by senators before a next trip to China
- They should “ establish the global standard ” Huang supports
It has long been prophesied that AI will lead to mass unemployment, several CEOs and technology chiefs warning the AID will destroy millions of jobs, and companies such as Microsoft dismissed thousands of workers while providing new AI productivity tools.
Now, Jensen Huang, CEO of the chip manufacturer and the company Ai Nvidia, has offered its perspective (slightly outdated). In an interview CnnHuang essentially transmits employment protection responsibilities to business leaders, affirming; “If the world lacks ideas, productivity gains result in job loss.”
“Everyone’s jobs will be affected. Some jobs will be lost. Many jobs will be created and what I hope is that the productivity gains that we see in all industries will lift the company,” said Huang.
Bipartite warnings
Huang’s authority on AI is also important, thanks to the power of Nvidia on the market. The GPUs of the company remain one of the most influential technological products in the world and largely feed the development of AI around the world – including in China, which scares certain American politicians.
Huang recently received a warning written by the Republican senator Jim Banks and Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, reports PK Press Club, who advised to meet Chinese companies, arguing that this could, “legitimize companies that cooperate closely with the Chinese army or involve discussing exploitable shortcomings in American exports”.
A spokesperson for Nvidia Saidus Technology “ will establish the world standard ” and that “America wins” – China being one of the largest software markets in the world, adding that AI software “should best work on the American technological battery, encouraging countries around the world to choose America”.
That said, Huang recently argued that Chinese military branches will avoid using American technology due to the associated risk; “It could, of course, be limited at any time,” he said, “they just can’t count on him.”
He added how Chinese military services, which already develop powerful tools, “do not need Nvidia chips, certainly, or American technological batteries in order to build their soldiers.”
This comes in response to increasing concerns that Chinese companies and military agencies will use American technology to improve capacity.
The increasingly severe restrictions have limited China access to the best IA technologies, aimed at curbing Chinese technology and AI progress – but concerns remain concerning the threat to American national security if China uses American companies to develop its capacities.
