The manufacturer of Chinese Mini PC GMKTEC is preparing to launch the Evo-X2, a compact but powerful system with the Ryzen AI Max + 395 processor.
According to GMKTEC, the device has 16 Zen 5 cores and Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 DNA 3.5 DNA calculation units, positioning it as AI tools, IT, games and professional performance of the workload.
A GMKTEC spokesperson told Techradar Pro that the EVO X2 will be launched in May 2025, with prices to be confirmed. However, its positioning suggests that it will compete with Apple’s Mac Studio with the M3 Ultra as one of the most capable mini PCs to date.
GMKTEC is visible to the mini-domination of the PC led by AI
Previously, the company announced plans for a mini PC based on Stix Halo, but provided little details at the time. With competitors like the HP Zbook and Framework Desktop adopting Stix Halo, GMKTEC seems to speed up its roadmap to stay ahead of the mini-PC market led by AI.
The company claims that the Ryzen AI Max + 395 can provide AI calculation performance up to 2.75 times faster than the NVIDIA RTX 5090. In addition, the Mini PC will support a 140W TDP, which suggests a concentration of high performance computer science, 4K games and the AI model training.
If these claims are valid, the EVO-X2 could redefine expectations for AI compatible mini PCs, offering a convincing alternative to traditional office work stations.
Although GMKTEC has not yet revealed the details of the final design, the reports indicate that the EVO-X2 will keep the compact imprint of its predecessor, the EVO-X1, which was one of the smallest mini PC to the Stix TDP.
