The Chinese Zhaoxin has just revealed a huge 96 -core processor that is very similar to the Epyc monster fleas from AMD.

  • The architecture of the Zhaoxin KH-50000 suggests the persistent shadows of past links with AMD
  • DDR5 memory channels increase capacity up to 3 TB in server environments
  • PCIE 5.0 support provides significant advance in data connectivity

Zhaoxin presented the Kaisheng KH-50000, its latest server processor which adopts a design based on chipsets very similar to the EPYC range of AMD.

This similarity raises the question of whether the architecture reflects an independent innovation or is strongly based on previous links between Chinese companies and AMD technology.
