Residents rushed to rooftops or SAPs for security, while the authorities have declared emergencies after swollen rivers have broken the banks in several southern Punjab districts, flooding hundreds of villages on large expanses, especially in the Chenab basin, officials announced on Monday.
The provincial Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that the Sutlej rivers, Ravi and Chenab had remained in “very strong flood” in several places. He added that water would enter the Industry River at night between Monday and Tuesday.
According to officials, Raging Rivers has violated the embankments at Jalalpur Pirwala, flooding dozens of villages and forcing authorities to declare emergencies to Jalalpur and Shujaabad. Later, officials ordered a complete evacuation from the city of Jalalpur Pirwala, fearing that the Chenab would cross protective dikes.
They said that a second wave of flooding in the Chenab overwhelmed more than 300 villages in the Jhang district, while major violations in Azmatpur de Muzaffargarh forced more than 7,000 people to flee their homes. Downstream, the Sutlej submerged the defenses near Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
A high -level flood in the Sutlej river has wreaked havoc in the vehicle district, while water engulfs more than 185 villages and 90 colonies. According to the irrigation service, the violation of an embankment in the Akbar Shah region of Luddan submerged more than 1,500 houses.
District administration said more than 75,000 people and thousands of acres of permanent crops had been affected by the flood. Elsewhere, Kasur has seen 130 submerged villages, which has an impact on more than 100,000 residents. In Chiniot, more than 100 villages have lost road access after failing.
According to data published by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), more than 4,000 rescue operations had been carried out so far, during which 2.4 million people have been safe. Rescue teams have deployed additional boats and drones to monitor the flood situation.
According to the PDMA, the Chenab basin was the hardest, with some 1,578 villages and more than 1.65 million people affected. Authorities said 36 people died in Chenab -related floods, while five deaths were reported along the delight. Overall, the Punjab death toll has been 2444 years since June.
National, the NDMA said that 922 people died during this monsoon season, including 12 in the past 24 hours. According to provincial authorities, seven of them were reported in Multan, where sudden floods swept away rural communities.
On Monday, Chenab’s flows exceeded 543,000 Cuses in Head Trimmu – one of the highest levels of recent years. Sutlej’s landfills reached 319,000 Cusecases in Ganda Singh Wala, while the Ravi jumped at 139,000 Balloki heads.
The officials said that the increase in water levels at various embankments, adding that the entrances and exits exceeded 600,000 punjnad heads – before flood waters flow in the Industry river. PDMA chief Irfan Kathia confirmed that flood waters were to enter the industrial river late at night.
Kathia said that due to new Trimmu entries, Multan would remain at high risk for the next 48 hours. “The pressure of water with the head Muhammadwala and Shershah is expected to increase in the coming 24 hours,” he added.
Sindh officials said that during the Indus, low -level floods in the damdu, Sukkur and Kotri dams. The authorities have asked the district administrations to remain on alert and accelerate protective measures against possible threats.
Meanwhile, the National Operation Center (NEOC) of the NDMA has issued an urgent weather opinion, warning strong precipitation in certain parts of Punjab, Sindh and Balutchistan over the next 12 to 24 hours.
The Neoc warned against urban floods, overflowing streams and landslides in hilly areas due to precipitation. It provides intermittent precipitation in the districts of the northeast and southern Punjab, notably Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Hafizabad, Faithbad, Chiniot and Sargodha.
Heavy and thunderous showers are expected in Multan, Layyah, Khanewal, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanpur, Rajanpur, Liaqatpur, Zahir Pir, Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar Khan.
In the Sindh, southern districts are likely to know strong precipitation accompanied by strong winds, affecting Ththa, Badin, Tharparkar, Mithi, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Adam, Hyderabad, Karachi and the surrounding areas.
Light and intermittent showers are planned for the upper and central Sindh, notably Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobad, Kashmore, Jamshoro and neighboring localities. In Balutchistan, Zhob, Loralai, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Suis, Khuzdar, Awaran, Barkhan and Lasbela should receive intermittent showers with thunderstorms.
