- Limited PS5 themes will be deleted today
- Sony thanks fans for the “fantastic answer”
- Consequently, they will return in the future
Sony confirmed that the limited -time console themes, which allow you to decorate your PS5 user interface in a PlayStation, PS2, PS3 or PS4 original, will be deleted today.
In a recent post X / Twitter, Sony thanked fans for the “fantastic answer” to themes, but confirmed that they “left” today. This is bad news if you were a fan of unique looks, but there is a silver lining here.
Thanks to the “positive response on these four themes” Sony “now does a little behind the scenes” to bring them back in the “months to come”. There is not yet a clear calendar, but that will probably involve making them a permanent option on PS5 a day later this year.
Despite this, Sony also said that “there are no plans to create additional themes in the future”, which is a massive shame. Many PS4 owners have loved the possibility of personalizing the home screen for their console, which offers a wide range of free and paid options available by the best games. Although this is a highly requested feature for PS5, it seems that we will see nothing more complete than this old system implemented as soon as possible.
Given the fairly sparse aspect of the PS5 home screen, I would certainly not mind spice up things a little. At least the future return of these four retro themes is better than nothing.
