The co-founder of Ethereum, Anthony Di Iorio, shared Thursday that he thinks that the blockchain was not necessarily supposed to be a “competitor of bitcoin”, but rather “it was supposed to be an alternative”.
Addressing a crowd with 2025 consensus, Di Iorio shared with the public of his time during the beginnings of Ethereum, noting at the time that he understood that the project could become a very big movement. “We could feel and feel that he resumed,” said Di Iorio.
Di Iorio was one of the eight co-founders of the Ethereum blockchain, but initially entered the cryptocurrency thanks to its advocacy with Bitcoin. He started Bitcoin meetings in Toronto in 2012, and through it, met Vitalik Buterin, who proposed the White Ethereum Paper and shared it with his co-founders colleagues.
Although Di Iorio is still a big supporter of Bitcoin, he said that “I think that Ethereum finally, he has the opportunity to exceed it in terms of market capitalization”.
“With the quantity of use cases and the value that Ethereum allows you to be created, I think it has this opportunity, in order to exceed it,” added Di Iorio.
After having moved away from the Ethereum Foundation, Anthony Di Iorio founded decentral in 2014, which is best known for creating the Jaxx Liberty cryptography portfolio. In 2022, he launched Andami, a project mixing equipment, tokenomics and game theory to fight against centralization vectors in decentralized networks.
