The cops would have violated children in prison: report

Hyderabad:

The Children’s Safety Committee, a social organization dedicated to the prevention of children’s abuse, sentenced the recent incident of sexual misconduct by a police officer against a prisoner in the minors in the central prison of Hyderabad. The Commission called for a strict punitive action against those responsible.

The members of the Children’s Safety Commission expressed profound concern about the disturbing incident.

“Such acts constitute not only human rights violations, but also highlight critical defects in judicial and correctional systems.”

The Commission proposed a solid surveillance system which includes representatives of the judiciary, legal fraternity, human rights organizations, law enforcement organizations, civil society and social protection groups. They recommended that the designated monitors carry out prison inspections every 15 days to effectively identify and treat such incidents.

The commission also suggested the installation of a box of complaints in the prison premises, allowing children of prisoners to report abuse without fear of reprisals.
