A judicial magistrate acquitted the Prime Minister’s adviser on political and public affairs Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday in a case linked to a rally of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) held in Gujranwala in October 2020.
Sanaullah was accused of having pretended to run the police and withdraw a container during the demonstration of the opposition alliance. The case was deposited under the government of Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) of the time.
The judicial magistrate Sidrah Gill Nawaz judged that the accusation had not supported the allegations, leading to the acquittal of Sanaullah. The case was recorded at the Town satellite police station.
The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had already faced a non-reducing arrest warrant in December for repeated absences in court.
The first information report (FIR) included accusations under the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC), in particular sections 149, 147, 186, 353 and 324.
Several other accused, including Salman Khalid Butt, Imran Khalid, and former federal minister Khurram Dastgir, had already been acquitted.
The police initially delayed the submission of the Challan against Sanaullah, and a report submitted by the investigators was rejected by the court before summoning the politician.
