London: Pakistani striker Haider Ali received an extension of the two-week surety by the Grand Manchester police after a British-Pakistani woman reported him for the alleged rape in a local hotel.
Haider Ali was to appear before the police on August 20, 2025, but the police told him to appear after two weeks. Meanwhile, the investigation will continue on allegations.
Grand Manchester police had confirmed to PK Press Club News that Ali was arrested for rape allegations. Police confirmed that they received a rape report on Monday, August 4 and arrested Ali, 24, immediately after that.
Police said: “It is alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 on Wednesday, in premises in Manchester. The man has since been released while waiting for new surveys. The victim is supported by police.”
In his interview with the police, Ali had denied the allegation of rape.
According to his family members, he told the police that he knew the girl well and that they were friends. Their meeting took place in a local hotel in Manchester, the source told PK Press Club News.
He was arrested at the Spitfire County Cricket Ground, Kent, from the players’ office. He was taken to the Canterbury police station by Kent police.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Ali was temporarily suspended for the duration of the criminal investigation.
“The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and recognizes the importance of allowing the investigation to execute its time wanted,” the PCB said in a statement.
“Consequently, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, with immediate effect, pending the outcome of the current investigation.
“Once the legal proceedings are completed and all the facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take the appropriate measures under its code of conduct, if necessary.”
Ali has represented Pakistan in 35 Twenty20 Internationals since its beginnings in 2020, as well as two international internationals.
