- The developer said he approached EA with ideas, but EA turned him down
- He adds: “The fact that EA has just been acquired, I think there is an opportunity. I’m already making calls”
Glen Schofield, the creator of the original Dead spaceexpressed interest in making another Dead space game, revealing that he even went to EA with ideas, but wasn’t interested.
Speaking in an interview with IGN during the Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show, Schofield discussed the future of the sci-fi and horror series and shared his desire to create Dead space 4. He explained that he presented his ideas to EA, but they were ultimately rejected.
“I went to [EA] recently and they said no, we’re not interested anymore,” Schofield said. “I said, I can get the management team back. I need EA Motive templates [the team behind the Dead Space remake]and I can save you $30 million to $40 million on the idea I have. And they say ‘no’.”
Schofield worked as an executive producer at EA Redwood Shores in 2008, where he helped create Dead Space, before later creating The Callisto protocol in his own company, which he founded, Striking Distance Studios.
He left Striking Distance Studios at the end of 2023 after the game delivered and is currently the director of Pinstripe Games. The developer has yet to announce any games in the works, but Schofield seems hopeful that it will one day get to work on another one. Dead space game.
“I have quite a few ideas that I’m ready to implement, and one of them is Dead space 4“, Schofield said. “The fact that EA has just been acquired, I think, represents an opportunity. Iām already making calls.ā
Schofield is referring to the recent acquisition of EA by a consortium of investors consisting of PIF, Silver Lake and Affinity Partners for $55 billion.
He went on to say, “We’ll see. I don’t know where EA’s head is right now, I don’t think they made any money with it [the Dead Space remake]. Dead space needs to be adapted for different media ā films, TV series, that would be great.
“But I’m more optimistic [since the sale of EA]because someone new might buy [the Dead Space IP]”.
