- Matt Reeves updated fans about what to expect The Batman II part
- The writer-director of the film says that filming will start at the end of April or early May 2026
- He also teased his main bad guy and confirmed if he would be part of the DCU
Matt Reeves shared new details on The Batman II part – And almost confirmed if his battle of bat would be folded in the DC universe (DCU).
Addressing Josh Horowitz on the red carpet of the Emmy Awards 2025, the co-series and director of the film revealed that the franchise led by Robert Pattinson will not be part of the nascent cinematographic universe of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Responding to Horowitz’s comment according to which Gunn Name exceeded Reeves as a person that the co-chief DC Studios would like to make a film in his superhero frankness of Safran and Safran, Reeves said: “I mean. [story] But it’s always DC [a DC Studios] production]so it’s theirs [Gunn and Safran’s] Also.”
To watch
Reeves’ response will be a dagger in the hearts of the fans who hoped that the Batman’s epic crime saga (TBECS) – This is the official name of the Bat Bat of Reeves – would merge with the DCU.
For months, fans have debated the question of whether the Tbec would join the DCU and officially integrate Bruce Wayne from Pattinson and his alter-ego of the fight against crime in Gunn and the new franchise of Safran. It is despite a great update of DCU that Gunn and Safran given in February, who saw the old insist for Pattinson would not become either from their universe of their universe.
Last month, an unfounded report suggested Batman 2 would include one of the most famous allies of Dark Knight in Robin, who is just part of The courageous and the fatalias Batman’s film featured from DCU, which is still at the start of development. Gunn quickly refuted this report at the time, but he did nothing to mitigate the speculations that a merger occurs.
With two Batman development properties in DC Studios, some fans also believe that the general public could be confused on the different versions of the Caped Crusader existing simultaneously on the big screen. The folding of the Tbec in the DCU would therefore be an easy way to resolve this dilemma in the eyes of some.
Admittedly, this problem was not resolved by the latest Reeves comments on this subject. Nevertheless, they finally provide the closure of the perennial debate concerning a possible merger and I, for my part, I am happy that it is finished.
A bad tease for the next enemy of the Big Bad Bat
It was not the only information indicated that Reeves provided on his next project on the big screen.
In August, the CEO of Warner Bros., David Zaslav, revealed that the cameras would begin to roll The Batman II part At the beginning of 2026. Speaking to Horowitz, Reeves gave a more concrete response to its start of production date by saying that filming would begin “at the end of April or early May”.
Then there is the mystery on which will be the main antagonist of the film. BatmanThe main bad guy was the riddler but, given the size of the superhero’s thug gallery, the big villain of his suite could be any number of super-villains.
As you would expect, Reeves would not say which of these had been chosen as the main enemy of Bruce Wayne and his superhuman alias, but who teased that it could be someone who would never have appeared in a Batman film live before.
“One of the explorations for me was to do something that grows even more in the character of Bruce Wayne,” said Reeves. “The first story concerns the Batman so much, and therefore I always wanted, in the films, to make sure that we get – say that we can do three and I have no idea [if we will] – But if we can do three, I always wanted the films to focus on his character.
“Once you have exceeded the original tale, which we did not quite do, but we have made something referring to its origins, you are starting to tell the story of the Gallery of VoyOUOUS”, continued Reeves, “and I never wanted to lose Rob in the center of these stories. So, by choosing the good villain who digs, [and] Go in his past and his life, this is what led this discussion. I will not say with whom we found ourselves, but it was never really made in a film before, so we are super excited about this. “”
So who could he be? An individual who immediately comes to mind is Hush, who has major links with Bruce Wayne in comics? Then there is the rich secret society based in Gotham called the Court of Owls. A fairly recent addition to the Batman thug gallery, Wayne thinks they were accomplices of the death of his parents in the overhaul of “the new 52” of DC Comics. None of the parties were presented in a Batman film live before and, taking into account their links with Wayne himself, met the two criteria to which Reeves alluded.
But what do you think? Who could Batman 2Is the villain? Let me know in the comments.
