Executive producer Fabrice Navrez describes The Resurgence of Tom Clancy’s The Division as “a good way to catch up with the universe” as the game approaches today’s launch.
Speaking to TechRadar Gaming, Navrez explained that the developer put in a lot of work “to make sure the game is an extension of The division” and that it is a completely canon episode.
“The prologue is before The Division 1: You’re a first wave agent, basically the first agents to try to save the day when New York City collapses,” he said. “Then the bulk of the game is between The division 1 and Division 2“.

In addition to the decor, Recurrence also presents many of the key mechanisms of both The division games. Having played it for a few hours before release, I was certainly impressed by the similarity to paid games on PC and console.
“What I really like about The division“, and I think that also fits with the mobile game, is the fact that the pace is a little slower than a classic shooter,” Navrez said. “It’s more tactical, you go from one end to the other. You have a little time to observe the situation, choose your target, etc. So this rhythm is already a good basis for creating a good mobile game.”
However, some changes needed to be made in order to bring the franchise to mobile.
“So I think where The resurgence of division What’s different from the original formula is that you have more options to play for five to ten minutes,” he revealed. Even those who “only play a little every day” will continue to “progress,” he continued. “But we already know for sure that we have players who already play a lot, which is also doable.”
He also argued that part of the reason for launching the mobile game was to bring The division to “people who perhaps have less time to play on more traditional video game platforms”, whether they are long-time fans or completely new to the series.
“We think it’s a good way to catch up with the universe in a more flexible way.”
The resurgence of division is available today via the Google Play Android Store and the Apple App Store.
