Dropbox will start to stop its password management service this week as part of a progressive interruption of functionality.
Although the closure is not immediate, you must take several steps to be able to transfer your existing identification information to another password manager.
And if you don’t act now – you could lose all your stored passwords.

On August 28, 2025, the Autofill function will be disabled and you will not be able to add new identification information to your storage. You will also not be able to modify your stored identification information, but you can always access it for export.
You should probably export your passwords stored as soon as possible, because on September 11, the mobile application will be closed and you will not be able to access your passwords stored via a mobile device. If you have not exported your passwords by then, you can always access your password vault via the browser extension.
If you do not take any measure by October 28, you will not be able to export any of your passwords stored because Dropbox will stop the browser extension and delete all the accounts and passwords. This calendar also applies to professional users, but each individual employee will have to export their passwords stored before October 28.

Browser extension:
- Open the Dropbox password browser extension.
- Click on your avatar (profile or initial photo) in the lower left corner.
- Click on “Preferences”.
- Click on the “Account” tab.
- Click on “Export”.
- Click on “Export” to confirm.
Mobile application:
- Open the Dropbox Mobile Passwords application.
- Press “Settings”.
- Press “Export”.
- Press “Export” to confirm.
Many companies have started to delete the storage features of identification information from their services, Dropbox, Microsoft Authenticator and even Deutsche Bank.
“This development, although difficult for affected people, highlights an increasingly crucial aspect of personal and organizational cybersecurity: the need for robust, reliable and dedicated solutions,” explains Karolis Arbaciauskas, manager of the commercial product at Nordpass.

In the meantime, Dropbox, Deutsche Bank and other non -cybersecurity companies will be able to focus on their main products. Keeping services, such as vaults of secure and up -to -date password, is expensive and requires constant attention. ”
