Former NBA all-star Dwight Howard said his dog died last week on Sunday after being hit by a car.

“I am devastated because you were the dog who never left my side, the dog that stuck to my hip at any time, and the only time you get away without me being there, someone keeps you away from me,” wrote Howard in an emotional instagram post. “Who might be so heartless to do that to such an innocent girl without remorse.”

Howard also implored his disciples to contact him if they had information “concerning a Belgian Malinese who was hit by a car” on June 18 in Suwanee, Georgia.

Howard wrote that after Sunday was hit, the car “continued”.

“From the moment I had you on Sunday, you were more than my dog … You were my peace. My protector. A reminder of everything that is beautiful and calm like those early Sunday morning,” wrote Howard in his article.

“You hugged like no other. Bark of anything like that meant everything. And each time I called your name, you came at full speed as your only mission, it was to love me … You were joy. You were heat. You were my daughter. And your life was cut too early.
