The first season of Ancient scrolls onlineSeason Zero, launches next week and is packed with new content that will be “free for everyone who owns the game” with no “gates or barriers” according to game director Nick Giacomini.
As detailed in the new Seasons Direct 2026 preview, Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk, it is scheduled to begin on April 2, 2026. It will last approximately 90 days, the length of all upcoming seasons, and will introduce plenty of free content.
This includes the first-ever limited-time event zone, known as The Night Market. Located in Fargrave (an in-game location Dead lands expansion), it will offer a gauntlet of intense player versus environment (PvE) encounters with an emphasis on group play. That said, Deputy Design Director Mike Finnegan assured fans of the stream that “joining a group is not mandatory” and that it’s “easy to jump in and play” solo if you want.

In addition to exploring its different neighborhoods, solving puzzles and defeating bosses, players will be able to contribute to the progression of three factions: the Ruckus, the Glittering Goad and the Thousand Eyes. Rewards will be given to the best performing factions, so choose carefully.
You’ll even be able to unlock a free house, known as Night’s Den, simply by completing the initial event zone quest.
Although The Night Market is only available for seven weeks this time around, there are already plans to bring it back in the future or even add it to the game permanently if it proves popular.
Don’t grind anymore
Season Zero also marks the launch of the highly anticipated Challenge difficulty level. This customizable system gives high-level players the ability to choose between four new difficulty levels with unique modifiers to be a part of. Ancient scrolls online much more difficult experience in exchange for big rewards.
This all follows some recent player experience balance changes designed to make the game much more rewarding.
“We’ve heard your feedback and we agree,” said Kira Ross Schlitt, Player Experience Improvement Team Lead. “Your time is valuable, so our first step was to reduce unnecessary effort and friction that can bog down the experience.”
Major changes include a massive increase in the furniture limit for the game’s houses, an overhauled UI for the player’s bag, and a huge reduction in the cost of upgrading your bag and bank so you no longer have to grind for hours just to store all your stuff.
Stablemaster training, used to improve your driving skills, is now also three times faster.
Even more content is coming Ancient scrolls online this year in the first season and beyond. The game is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S and Xbox One.
