The Elon Musk Government Department (DOGE) has sent a key government’s key government program to the Silicon Valley efficiency, innovation and rapid technology.
Almost all of the Digital Defense Department (DSS) confirmed that they resign following the pressure from the DOGE, with many DSS responsibilities to be covered by the main digital and artificial intelligence office.
The DSS has been a key source of innovation and adoption of new Pentagon technologies in the past decade, introducing many technological remedies during the American withdrawal of assistance programs from Afghanistan and Ukrainian.
Doge ditches dss
Of the 14 employees who make up the DSS office, 11 plan to take the delayed resignation of Trump by the end of April. DSS director Jennifer Hay plans to leave on May 1, the two remaining employees also providing for resigning.
One of the main responsibilities of the DSS was to introduce rapid technology during national security incidents to help the Pentagon react quickly to developing situations.
Although the responsibilities of the DSS are transmitted to another department, it is difficult to know how long it will take the head of digital and artificial intelligence to assume the responsibilities of the DSS – potentially by endangering the security of the Pentagon.
Much within the DSS office expected to be part of Doge’s efforts to improve the efficiency of the Pentagon and introduce new AI technologies, but they were transmitted by Musk, with Hay indicating “the reason why we stuck it as long as we did is that we thought we were going to be called.”
According to PoliticoThere were existing problems in the program ranging from political intestine struggles to freezing, but each DSS employee said that they would not leave without Doge. “The best way to say it, I think, is that we die quickly or that we die slowly,” added Hay.
This is not the first modernization and innovation program to face the ax under Doge, with the American digital service and the 18F program being subject to layoffs and dismissals under Pressure de Doge.
A former Pentagon official who spoke to Politico Under the subject of anonymity, commented Doge’s incursion in improving the efficiency of the Ministry of Defense, declaring: “They do not really use AI, they do not really lead the efficiency. What they do is to crush everything.”
