Lahore:
Generalized floods in Punjab have left children in several affected areas with fever and diarrheal diseases.
Managers of the Department of Provincial Health have declared that the administration had oriented the expansion of medical camps in the areas affected by floods to protect lives and prevent other epidemics.
Families living along the banks are asked to move to safer places, the boats promised to help their evacuation.
The reports indicate that in the regions affected by the floods along the Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab rivers, as well as parts of Multan, children fall more and more sick due to unsanitary conditions and seasonal changes.
Families who are reflected near the banks remain vulnerable, although the emergency medical camps provide drugs to children and adults.
In the camps, children are treated with fever and syrups of coughing, antibiotics and injections, while parents are invited to guarantee access to drinking water.
Meanwhile, the authorities have warned that additional flood waters should enter the rivers in the coming days.
The administration was responsible for prioritizing preventive measures, in particular a timely evacuation of residents of the vulnerable river banking colonies before the overvoltages of the floods are intensifying.
Officials have stressed that safeguarding lives must remain absolute priority, in parallel with efforts to minimize the destruction of communities and livelihoods.
