Islamabad:
The High Court of Islamabad (IHC) ordered the country’s best spying agency to inform it during a session to the camera at the place where almost ten years ago, Omar Abdullah, who disappeared from Islamabad.
The high court of the capital, while noting that the deputy director general or a commander of the inter-service intelligence sector (ISI) could give the briefing, asked the authorities to inform him by October 6 for which officer will appear.
An IHC bench including the main judge Mohin Akhtar Kayani made the order on Friday while hearing a petition deposited by Zainab Zaeem, the wife of Omar Abdullah.
The judge said that ISI officers should simply tell the court if the person had been killed, left abroad or hides. He added that it would be acceptable if five ISI officers appear, because the account of a single officer may not be sufficient.
“It is actually the work of the Parliament to resolve the question of the missing people, but the parliament closed their eyes. At one point, these questions will move to the criminal procedure,” he said.
During the hearing, the court was informed that an assistance amount of 5 million rupees had been transferred to the affected family account. The Defense Ministry and the Additional Prosecutor General presented the online transfer receipt to the court.
Judge Kayani also observed that financial remuneration cannot lighten the family’s grief.
“The state is not lacking in money but the problem will not be solved in this way. A person has disappeared for 10 years, and after 7 years, a decision has been made.
“We must reveal where the missing person is. Is he in a prison in Afghanistan? He must be specified if he is alive or dead,” he said.
