The Ethereum Foundation dismiss certain staff members in the middle of the R&D restructuring

The Ethereum Foundation dismissed certain members of its research and development team as part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at refocusing critical protocol design challenges, the organization said in a blog article on Monday.

The reshuffle arises while non -profit Switzerland struggling with continuous criticism of its management and strategic orientation. Some members of the Ethereum community have warned for more than a year that not to face key technical obstacles could threaten Ethereum status as a leader in industry, and the organization has already undergone changes in leadership in part to respond to these concerns.

The Foundation returns its research and development division of the protocol under the simplified name of the “protocol” and reposition the group around three main priorities: the scale of the basic layer of Ethereum, the widening of Blobspace (a key element of its data availability strategy) and the improvement of the user experience.

“The changes we are announcing today are a gap in our previous working methods, but we believe that they have put us on a more reactive and effective path,” the foundation said in his article.

The EF has not disclosed the number of staff members affected by layoffs. “”[S]PR&P&D members will not continue with the Ethereum Foundation, “said the blog.” We hope these people will continue in Ethereum ecosystem and encourage other people to build their teams to search for them. »»

A spokesperson for the Foundation did not respond to a request for comments.

The restructured protocol team will serve as a hub for Ethereum’s basic development efforts, aimed at improving public visibility within upgrades, technical documentation and research.

“We hope that this new structure will allow our internal teams to concentrate more clearly and advance key initiatives,” said HSIAO-Wei Weng, the EF executive co-director in an article on X.
