At least five people were killed and five others seriously injured after an explosion of gas cylinder caused a fire in a store in the Ravi Road area in Lahore, officials said.
Rescue sources have confirmed that the fire broke out when a cylinder exploded inside the store, Express News reported.
The emergency services rushed to the scene, turned off the flames and moved the deceased and injured in a neighboring hospital.
The wounded would be in critical condition.
Following the incident, Dig Lahore’s operations expressed their regret in loss of life and ordered immediate scanning in the region using the relevant services.
He asked the police to remain on alert and called for strict surveillance in all areas of the city.
Officials also ordered the immediate closure of all illegal LPG points of sale operating nearby.
Possible cause and neglect surveys are underway.
