Monster: the story of Ed Gein Hits Netflix on October 3, 2025, and the streamer has just given us our first overview of the new anthology season of the real crime of Ryan Murphy. As the name suggests, the third season will follow the fictitious life of the notorious murderss Ed Gein (played by Charlie Hunnam), who confessed to having killed two women between 1954-1957. Worse than that, his nickname “The Boucher de Plainfield” came from the authorities discovering that Gein has exhumed the corpses of local cemeteries to make … memories … for himself.
It is quite clear that the new season Monster will probably be the darkest and bloodiest, following Murphy’s sockets on Jeffrey Dahmer and Lyle and Erik Menendez. As Netflix himself tells us: “Monster: the story of Ed Gein tells how a simple man in Plainfield, Wisconsin, has become the most singular ghoul in history. He revealed to the world the most horrible truth of all – that the monsters were not born, they are made … by us. “”
But the streamer also tells us that Gein “has become the plan for modern horror”, it being largely reported that he served as inspiration for some of the best horror movies, including Psycho,, Texas chainsaw massacreAnd The silence of the lambs. However, it should be emphasized that these films were not really his real life, which means that one of our first posters has a factual inaccuracy which really bothers me.
Monster: The story of Ed Gein shows the killer as the murderer of the Texas chainsaw that he was apparently not

Newsflash, people: Ed Gein knowingly kills anyone using a chainsaw. At least, not as far as we know. According to EBSCO Research, the first victim of the confirmed murder of Gein, Mary Hogan, was shot dead, while the second victim Bernice Worden was beheaded and unearthed beyond the point of establishing a cause of death. While a number of other disappeared people were linked to Gein, none of them has been proven beyond suspicion (and as they have never been found, their cause of death can be proven).
This does not mean that Gein did not adopt in knotty behavior, and it is the fact slightly. The preserved remains of 15 other women were found on his property, creating “masks” from human faces and even a “ woman’s costume “, which would have been made after the death of his mother. These are references of the case like this one that make the Psycho And Texas chainsaw massacre The comparisons are clear, but that’s where the lines meet.
Netflix marketing for Monster: the story of Ed Gein is obviously inspired by its influence on said horror films, but this is moving away from the structure of the seasons 1 and 2. Essentially, each season is a dramatization of real life, and to do this effectively, the scenes must be exact. We can suspend enough belief to admit that he probably put his head on his mother’s lap, and he clearly made fleshy masks, but murder with a chainsaw even if there is no evidence? Gein’s life becomes a parody, not a serious drama.

Of course, I don’t know how much someone else will worry about semantics. The images are striking and frightening in its own right, molding the Hunnam version of Gein in the monster (word game) that we all believed. I have no doubt that Murphy will create such a shocking visual show, we will feel like the glory days of American horror storyThe first seasons are back.
Despite this, he leaves a note sour. While The story of Lyle and Erik Menendez brought me back afterwards The story of Jeffrey Dahmer went too far in my eyes, I’m afraid The Stor Ed GeinI already lost me with his theaters.
