The first seaside resort of the city opens

The lawyer for mayor Murtaza Wahab inaugurated on Friday the Cove seaside resort in Hawk’s Bay, the very first seaside resort of the metropolis established as part of a public-private partnership model (PPP).

While speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the mayor said that karachites no longer needed to travel abroad for premium beach experiences, because the city now has its own world -class leisure destination. The complex, completed in six months, offers advanced facilities and is now open to the public.

The mayor described the project as a significant realization for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and a stage towards the modernization of the city’s infrastructure.

Wahab has announced that another seaside resort is underway, likely to be developed in Ibrahim Hyderi or Malir, guaranteeing wider access to high -quality recreational spaces for citizens. He stressed that improving the Karachi leisure and tourism sector remains an absolute priority under its administration.

The mayor has described several key projects aimed at improving the habitability and economic vitality of Karachi, which include cleaning 46 major rainwater sewers to prevent urban floods during the monsoon; Embellishment of II Chundrigar Road, the city’s financial center; Preservation of historic monuments such as Denso Hall, Empress Market and Frere Hall; Development of a mangroves conservation park to promote awareness of the environment.

The inauguration was followed by the deputy mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, the parliamentary chief of the municipal council Karamullah Waqasi, the deputy parliamentary chief Dil Muhammad and various presidents and civil servants of the UC.

During a separate meeting with the management committee of the Sindhi Muslim Housing Society, the mayor Wahab ordered the KMC land service to take immediate measures against illegal constructions and encroachments on the properties belonging to KMC. He asked for weekly stage reports to ensure the transparency of the application.

Meanwhile, the mayor officially wrote to the Federal Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Development Fund (EDF), Jam Kamal Khan, expressing a deep concern about Karachi’s continuous neglect in the allocation and use of export development funds.

The mayor urged the federal government to ensure that Karachi receives his legitimate share of support and financing, proportionate to his critical role in the economy of Pakistan.
