- Included Rançon recently added a Hold Delhaize to its data leak site
- The company confirmed the loss of sensitive data in the attack
- The survey is still in progress, so users should be wary
Ahold Delhaize, one of the largest food sales groups in the world, confirmed that he had lost sensitive data from his American activities in a cyber attack in November 2024.
Confirmation intervened after the responsible threatening actor, the Inc Rançon, added the company to his data leak website, sharing examples of documents which they claim to have been stolen in the attack.
“Based on our survey to date, some files have been taken from some of our internal American commercial systems,” said a spokesman for Delhaize Bleeping Compompute. “Since the incident has been detected, our teams have worked with diligence to determine what information may have been affected.”
Investigation
At the beginning of November 2024, Ahold Delhaize revealed a cybersecurity incident which forced him to close certain parts of his computer infrastructure.
“This question and subsequent attenuation actions have affected certain brands and services Ahold Delhaize USA, including a certain number of pharmacies and certain electronic commerce operations,” said the company at the time.
The company said that it was still investigating the incident and that if it determines that customer data had been taken, it would advise people affected.
“If we determine that personal data has been affected, we will inform those affected if necessary. In addition, we have informed and updated the application of the law,” added Delhaize.
Until the investigation ends, we will not know how many customers (if applicable) are in danger, but it should be mentioned that Hold Delhaize is a Dutch multinational and wholesale retail company, operating some 7,910 stores across Europe, the United States and Indonesia, and serving around 72 million customers each week.
The company’s spokesman told the publication that all of its e-commerce stores and services were open and operational, and that customers should not be faced with any problem following the violation.
