Rawalpindi:
The senior PML-N official and former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed Khan visited the Rawalpindi bench of the High Court of Lahore in connection with the murder of the former provincial parliamentary Chaudhry Adnan.
Presenting before judge Sadaqat Ali Khan, Tanveer withdrew his request for release under pre-stopping surety, which the court then officially eliminated. After the withdrawal, the civil line police arrested Chaudhry Tanveer and involved it in the investigation.
The defense lawyer said that their client had voluntarily withdrawn the request for freeing under guarantee to ensure transparency in the investigation and cooperate fully with the police.
“Our surety has not been rejected – we have removed it ourselves to facilitate an equitable investigation. We will present all the evidence proving our innocence,” said the lawyer.
Chaudhry Adnan, who was a close relative of Chaudhry Tanveer, was shot down on February 8, 2024 – three days after the general elections – near Jinnah Park Chowk in the Civil Lines region. His family filed a FIR accusing Chaudhry Tanveer, his brother Chaudhry Changez (member of the board of directors of the canton), and his lawyer Daniyal (a MNA seated).
