- VSora increases $ 46 million to build the Europe alternative to AI giants
- The Jotunn8 chip targets inference with lower power and higher flow
- The French startup questions Nvidia’s advance in a flea market focused on training
The designer of French chips VSORA has raised $ 46 million in new funding, because it aims to offer the main alternative in Europe to NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Google AI processors.
The startup based in Paris bets important on a tailor -made inference processor called Jotunn8, which it plans to bring to silicon in the second half of 2025 using the production of 5 Nm to TSMC.
While the GPUs of Nvidia dominate the workloads by training, VSora targets inference with its chip which, according to her, is faster and more efficient where it is important.
Ensure the technological sovereignty of European AI
The financing cycle was led by Otium and a French family office, with additional support from the capital Omnes, Adélie Capital and the European Innovation Council Fund.
Investors support VSora’s goal of carving out a space in a crowded and mostly non -European market.
“In a market dominated by global giants like Nvidia, VSora is a unique opportunity for France and Europe, which houses world -class engineering talents,” said Gaspard de Veyrac, director of Otium.
“With this funding, VSora has the tools necessary to reshape the future of the calculation of AI and secure an important position on the world market for AI fleas.”
Vsora’s chip does not try to be everything for everyone. Unlike GPUs, which are mainly built for training models, Jotunn8 is designed only for inference, therefore focuses on performance by Watt, latency and cost per request.
The company claims that Jotunn8 offers more than three times the performance of current solutions while using less than half of the power.
It aims at 3200 TERRAFOPS of computing power and will target workloads such as generative AI of Chatppt style, autonomous driving and on -board devices.
“This funding marks a central moment for VSora while we accelerate our mission to revolutionize IA chips and guarantee Europe’s technological sovereignty in AI computer science,” said Khaled Mainj, founder and CEO of VSORA, founder and CEO Khaled.
“This will lead to the finalization of our technology and the launch of our production, allowing VSORA to play a crucial role as the only alternative to designers of non -European fleas. We are grateful for the confidence of our investors and we are delighted to continue our collaboration with the industry leaders to put our chip on the market. ”
